All Things Work Together For Our Good

1 Samuel 29

All Things Work Together For Our Good
Let us remember that David was called for God’s purpose.

In today’s reading, God did not allow him to go in the battle with the Philistines to fight against king Saul and his men. What I see from this story is the point that God spared David from sinning, that he might turn away from his pledge to Achish upon seeing Saul and his co-Israelite soldiers to stand defeated against the Philistines. The major justification is this. Knowing that David’s loyalty to God is very strong, he will always consider Philistines as God’s enemies on a number of reasons.

Through God’s divine grace, He will always spare us from sinning. We need to ask for this, as Jesus Christ taught us. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” (Matthew 6:13).

Some of us might be saddened of the circumstances coming our way, because they are not what we might have expected to happen. But remember that God has a plan to fulfill in us so we need to consider listening to Him at all circumstances and His will in every situation.

Today’s reading reminds me of God’s word in the New Testament. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

God’s message:

All things work together for our good, for us who love Christ Jesus and receive the promise that God has plans for our lives.

God’s promise:

It is God’s promise to fulfill His plan for our lives. Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of our faith, so God will always spare us from sinning.

God’s command:

Listen to God in all circumstances and consider His will in every situation.

God’s warning:

Apart from God’s purpose, there is no guarantee of success and victory in some or all areas of our lives.

Surrender everything to God. Our battle is for Him to win.

Father in Heaven, Creator of all things, You know our capacity. You know the level of obedience we have before you. You know our level of worship. As You increase our faith Father, please do also increase our level of obedience to Your words. It is only through Your grace that we could fully obey You to the fullest. So help us Father to desire more of the things You want us to apply in our lives. Help us to obey You to the fullest so that You will be able to fulfill Your plan for our lives. With this, we could always respond positively to all situations coming our ways. This we ask and pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and personal Savior. Amen!
