1 Samuel 22
I learned from John Locke, though not explicitly coming from his words, but his argument was implying that the government should have its basic foundation on God’s moral principle.
It is here where Saul’s governance and leadership failed,
for he fell short walking on God’s moral principle. On the other hand, David
who continuously serving the Lord with a pure heart was momentarily seeing the
fulfillment of God’s promise. God’s divine workings conspired to fulfill His
plan for David.
We are leaders or managers in our own way, especially to our
personal life. Saul’s leadership was a failure, for he forgot the very moral
principle of God. He was not able to recognize that obedience is better than
sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). Obedience therefore is a higher form of worship
before God.
Could we then give our optimum worship to God if we failed to obey Him?
Could we then give our optimum worship to God if we failed to obey Him?
Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command”
(John 14:15). But the problem with many of us is that we do not know God’s
command, so we remain ignorant of His moral principles. We rely so much on our
own understanding, which makes us vulnerable to failures or troubles.
God’s message:
A life that is not walking on God’s divine goodness and
moral principle is a life without God. It is a life not governed by God.
God’s promise:
With God’s control over our us, there is always safety
for we can always assure of His divine and moral guidance.
God’s command:
Always listen to the voice of God. Know His commands and harden
not your heart if you hear His voice today.
God’s warning:
Not hearing the voice of God results to wrong decisions and
evil things of this world. Just like Saul, he failed to listen to God and
insisted his will, resulting to wrong decisions and leadership failure.
Applications:
Always allow God to check our heart so that we can always
hear and listen to His voice for our optimum guidance and protection. Then
find out His commands by meditating on His word. Read the bible daily.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, thank
You for giving us Your word once again today. Your word gives us guidance and
protection. Help us to obey You to the fullest so that at anytime we can
always hear Your voice. Do not harden our heart, and erase all the strongholds
in us. Let our battles be Yours, for we can do nothing apart from you. Our
hearts may turn out deceptive without Your divine dwelling among us. So today,
thank You for your Presence that could always ensure us of Your divine guidance
and protection. We bring back to You all the glory and honor. This we ask and
pray, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
