The Secret To A Victorious Life's Battle

The Secret To A Victorious Life's Battle

As humans, we cannot resist to feel different emotions. Now we might be extremely happy, but in a while our feelings might change, because of both internal and external factors surrounding us. This is what it means to be human, so we need God’s guidance so that we may not end up deciding things especially if we are at the point of retaliating in anger.

Each of us has pride, but through God’s words, it would be easy for us to humble down and remain righteous before God.

Each of us has specific internal struggles that if would not be overcome will lead us to deliberately sinning before the Lord.

We have many struggles and internal conflicts, including poverty in some aspects of our life (social, emotional, financial, intellectual, physical, and spiritual). These are always putting us to the test if we could obey God’s will for our lives, remain loyal to Jesus and increase our faith and trust in Him alone.

In most of the time, we cannot literally see our enemies, but we can feel their presence, because Jesus Christ, once we believe in His words, will give us the discerning to understand the plot of the opponents.

Let us be realistic that every now and then, our enemies are trying to attack us and always looking forward to defeat God’s people. But we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us (Romans 8:37). Through God’s words, Jesus Christ exposed to us the truth and Satan’s schemes.

Pride, among us God’s people is one of our greatest enemies, which we cannot literally see, but will manifest itself through our actions, thoughts and words. Pride could kill both spiritual and physical aspects of the human life. The spirit of pride is everywhere and is always looking for a perfect timing to raid God’s people. Pride was the very spirit which tormented king Saul leading him to lose his kingdom, passing it on to David.

We have many enemies, and they are very real. In today’s generation, the word of God reminds us who these enemies are. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).

Yes, some of us might consider murderers, robbers as literally our enemies or those people badmouthing against us, but there is something within us that we need to surrender to God to let it be checked and destroyed fully. They are our enemies that from time to time would attempt to raid and lead us to sinning, and eventually defeat.

Believing and following the words of Jesus Christ make us His disciples. As His disciples, how do we respond to our enemies? What is our attitude when we are in their midst? Jesus when He sent out His disciples told them these words, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves” (Matthew 10:16).

In today’s reading, David made terrible mistakes in responding to God’s plan, by deliberately lying, although he was humble enough to follow the commands of God. He raided Geshurites, the Girzites and Amalekites while he was at Gath with the Philistines, the greatest enemy of Israelites (verse 8). The entire move was covered by David’s lying (verse 10). But God is just and fair. David’s lying resulted to some tragic consequences (1 Samuel 30:3-6).

Today, we do not need to lie or do anything just to take advantage of our opponents. All we need to do is to rely on God and this is what Jesus would want us to understand in order to be always canny with our enemies, while remaining in full humility by keeping His command. Our enemies today will not be literally the same with David’s enemies from the past, though they are the same in principle, but what God would want us to kill are those within us that could prevent Jesus from giving us the joy of salvation.

The world can be deceiving. We are seeing things around that from time to time could change our heart and perspectives, leading us to depart from God’s will for our life. Jesus reminded us once again today as His disciples, to be always vigilant and alert to discern the plot of the enemies.

God’s message:

Our right attitude in the midst of our enemies makes us become victorious Christians.

God’s promise:

Since we are more than conquerors through Christ, God will always make a way for us to succeed in our every battle.

God’s command:

Always remain humble in heart before the Lord and be always on the go to discern the plot of the enemies.

God’s warning:

Not being humble before the Lord will lead our enemies to outsmart us in our battle.

Know the truth about God through His words. Read the Bible. Have time at least 30 minutes or more each day to meditate on His words. But before doing so, let the Lord cleanse your heart so that you can hear and listen to His voice.

Father in Heaven, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the never-changing God, thank You for Your Words today. It is our desire to fully obey You in our thoughts, words and deeds. Help us to overcome whatever battle we might have for now. We believe that it is Your will for us to become more than conquerors through Christ. Help us Father to understand more of Your will so that we will not be deceived. Protect every word we heard from You today, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
