We Reap What We Sow - A Vital Principle To Success

by Arthelo Palma

1 Samuel 26

We Reap What We Sow - A Vital Principle To SuccessWe need to do something good in order for us to obtain something good.

Students allocate ample time for their studies, in order to earn their degree in the future.

Some health-conscious individuals are hooked on diet and regular exercise in order to be physically fit.

Employees make sure of good work feat in order to receive higher work evaluation performance and probable career path promotions in the future.

Those who constantly ignore the good and pursuing illegal activities and evil intents are putting their very life in jeopardy. Sooner or later, they will be exposed, and may be putting a period to their life too.

Regularly, those who diligently learning and searching the truth and knowledge about God are becoming wiser everyday, seeing perspectives and things that ordinary people do not see.

A farmer needs to plant so that at the appointed time of the harvest he has something to reap. This principle is God’s. So the bottom line, we reap what we sow.

The Bible clearly emphasizes this point. “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Galatians 6:7-8).

Jesus Christ, yesterday, today and in the future, is trying to teach us this principle. In fact, He said, “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins” (Matthew 6:14-15). So in general, Jesus would want to tell us today the golden rule, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12).

There was a great man of God in the Bible who fully understood this principle and that was David. In today’s reading, David had the second chance to lay his hand on Saul, and kill him, but for this time he said, “As surely as the Lord lives, the Lord himself will strike him; either his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish” (verse 10).

Furthermore he said, “The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed. As surely as I valued your life today, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble” (verses 23-24).

God’s message:

The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. What we sow is what we reap.

God’s promise:

God will always be Just and Fair.

God’s command:

Always be faithful and righteous before the Lord, showing constant obedience to His words.

God’s warning:

God will always allow things to happen in our lives based on the results of our response to His words.

Applications:

Make it a lifestyle to be always faithful and righteous before the Lord.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, in the name of Christ Jesus we acknowledge that it is Your will for us to become victorious Christians. Thank You for helping us understand the very principle of becoming successful Christian. Thank You for reminding us that You reward every man for his righteousness and faithfulness and we reap what we sow. Help us become better persons You want us to be. We are asking for Your grace and divine guidance and provision in everything we do. This we ask and pray, in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen!
