All Things Work Together For Good To Those Who Are Called By God!

2 Samuel 15

All Things Work Together For Good To Those Who Are Called By God!
I am not judging or anything or so in writing this, but I learned many things over this event that I also would like to share with you.

It was not a secret to everyone who set their eyes on Pacquiao’s boxing match on how his mom would pray for her son to stand in triumph against his opponents in the boxing arena. Those avid fans of Pacquiao would most of the time see him with flying colors, but not until recently with his two consecutive fights.

Yesterday, on the national TV news broadcast at Pacquiao’s country, sympathies of his defeat to Marquez that were overflowing together with his family being too emotional about the turn of events were headlined.

I heard Pacquiao's mom putting all the blame on her son's Pastor, and his decision to opt for a born-again experience in the Christian life. To be sincerely blunt about this, I am convinced that this is not the real issue.

On the other hand, we could not judge Pacquiao’s mom because she was just too hysterical and was not used to hearing his son coming home not bringing the bacon. From the point of view of mature Christians, Pacquiao’s mom might still be in the process of increasing her faith and understanding more of God’s real principles. However, this is not only about her. Above anything this also concerns Pacquiao’s faith and to all who would want to understand who is God in their life.

The problem with us people is we think God will directly put us to somewhere He promised to bring us. We need to understand that His principle is different from us. God promised to deliver Israelites from the bondage of slavery in Egypt to bring them to the land flowing with milk and honey [abundance], but He would test their faith first in the desert as the only way He could change the attitude of their hearts. God wants to prepare our hearts so that we would not be overwhelmed by the abundance and prosperity that are advancing us, but instead this would make us remain humble before Him, entrusting to Him everything about our life.

The message is clear. It is not about religion and other related issues, but our real faith in God is tested when we are in the midst of adversity, trials and other relevant events that God would use to correct the attitude of our heart. God is truly expecting positive response from Pacquiao, and I admire him for telling the people that in the game like he played, there is a winner and the other way around. For us Christians, Pacquiao’s decision to stay closer with God makes Him a winner. He just needs to go by God’s testing of his faith.

Today’s reading reminded me of David’s unwavering faith in God in the midst of his adversity (verses 25-26), which gave him the power to remain successful in life.

God’s message:

In the midst of adversity, trusting the Lord would be the believer’s strong refuge (verses 25-26).

God’s promise:

God will always organize everything in our life if He is with us, so there is no need to be hysterical. No need to panic. He is always in control and everything that would happen to us who are called by certain purpose is for our own good (Romans 8:28).

God’s command:

Never fail to trust God at all times.

God’s warning:

Not listening to the voice of God will result us to be eliminated from His ultimate plan for our life.

Application:

Make trusting the Lord at all times, and in all circumstances a lifestyle.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, touch the heart of every person who reads this message. Open our spiritual understanding so that every word we heard from You today will remain in our heart to increase our faith in You. This we ask and pray, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
