Why God Intends To Show You Miracles?

by Arthelo Palma

God Faith Miracles
We know that the beauty exists as we come to see, touch and feel it.
Like the blind man, many of us whom Jesus healed believed in Him after we received the opportunity to experience His miraculous hands and mighty power. Believing in His teachings convinces us that He is mighty and powerful, as He is capable of giving us great signs and wonders, like healing [in all aspects of life].

At some point, we could say that the blind man believed in Jesus because of the miracle he received from Him. It was a miracle because this man was blind since birth. He was finally seeing the world after Jesus restored his vision.

Why Jesus must show miracles to the people? Why there is a need for Him to show to us how He healed the sick, touched the blind and deaf, revived the dead, fed a multitude, walked on the water and so on?

In the same way, why God intended to show His miracles not only to the Egyptians but also most importantly to the Israelites in Egypt? Why He needed to show to His people how He would bring troubles to the Egyptians with tremendous signs and wonders? Why He must divide the Red Sea? Why He needed to provide His people in the desert a pillar of clouds at daytime, a pillar of fire in the evening and a manna from heaven for their entire journey? All of these were divinely provided miraculous sustenance in the wilderness.

God knows the heart of His people. A man believes what he sees.

You will not most probably build your trust in a doctor who could not heal your existing poor medical condition. You would not waste your time on a drug that does not give you an assurance of healing. It is harder for you to lend your ears to someone who does not have enough credentials to tell you about a subject matter. In other words, we mostly believe in what we see, hear and feel.

This is how we develop our faith. In fact, faith comes from hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). We use our senses for us to develop our faith.

However, God wants to correct us from this process of building and growing our faith from the time we see how His miracles work.  The moment we experience His miracles, what He would want as response from us is to start believing in Him with full assurance that His words are true. This means that we do not need to ask or look for more of His miracles just to believe in His words. In fact, faith by definition is “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Therefore, when we still rely on our senses for proofs (like miracles) from God knowing there is truth in His word; we are not exercising our faith. We are only putting our faith in Him into effect if we believed in His words without any hint of doubt even if there might be no linked miracles to them.

I am so blessed with the life of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They knew that their God is powerful above all things and any one else in this world. As their response, they did not bow down before other gods even if it would mean they would loss their lives from it. They believed with full assurance of trust that the God they are serving is able to save them, but even if they would not see miracles from Him, they would not bow down before the image of gold that the Babylonian king had set up before them (Daniel 3:17-18).

Just like them, there may be presence of miracles or not, we should always have consistency of our faith in God. For us Christians, knowing that there is truth in the words of Jesus Christ is more than miracles, for it gives us the way, truth and life.
